Ilona LOVAS

Kossuth Prize-winning textile artist, fine artist
She completed her studies at the Hungarian College of Fine Arts. She regularly exhibit ed her work in domestic exhibitions from the mid-1970s. She produced works of art that broke away from traditional textile art forms, materials and techniques, crossing the boundaries between the applied arts and fine arts. She won the second prize at the Milan Triennial of Textile Art in 1973 and the Noémi Ferenczy Award in 1993. She lived and worked in New York between 1987 and 1990. She was an associate professor at the University of Western Hungary from 2004. She was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist of Hungary in 2005. She was a mem ber of the Hungarian Academy of Arts, and the Széchenyi Academy of Literature and Arts of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
