Tamás KÓTAI

(1959, Makó) fine artist

He graduated from the Hungarian College of Fine Arts in 1985. He became the founder and organiser of the Szeged Artists’ Colony in 1995. He organised exhibitions at the Winter Gallery in Szentendre in 1995 and 1996. He has been a teacher at the Eszterházy Károly Catholic University in Eger since 2007. He has been a founding member and head of the Freehand Artists’ Colony and Gallery in Szihalom since 2018. He makes paintings, graphic artworks, prints, unique drawings as well as objects. He has been participating in both solo and group exhibitions. He received the prize of the Municipality of Szeged at the Szeged Summer Exhibition in 2019, and the prize of the Ministry of Human Capacities at the National Watercolour Triennial in Eger in 2018. He was recognised with the Munkácsy Award in 1997.
