Dániel KRISTÓFY
(1987, Budapest) fine artist
He graduated in painting from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, where his teachers were Gábor Nagy and János Kósa. In his paintings, he seeks to approach silence through an experience- and surface-driven visual language. He explores the relations of the panel picture, which he sees as a ‘silent genre’. In his compositions, which explore the balance between serenity represented by empty, silent spaces and tension – embodied in concentrated information – there is a deep focus on books, both as physical objects with distinct materials and boundaries, and as vessels of content being essential tools for the transmission of knowledge and culture, as well as on the consequences of damage inflicted upon them.
