SZENTELEKI Gábor

(1978, Körmend) painter

He graduated in painting from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2005 in the class of Gábor Nagy. He established a place for himself in the new trends of figurative art after the turn of the millennium with his paintings replete with tension, in which he combined the compositional and painterly techniques of mannerism and baroque with grotesque themes marked by wry humour. His painting has undergone a radical change in the last fifteen years, during which his figurative work has moved towards a powerful abstraction, preserving the narrative related to humankind and the body. H e received the Jenő Maticska Prize in 2017. His works can be found in private and public collections both in Hungary and abroad.
