Berta MAYER

(1944, Budapest) painter

She graduated as a painter and art teacher in 1968 from the Hungarian College of Arts, where her masters were Lajos Szentiványi and Jenő Barcsay. She taught at the Secondary School of Visual Arts between 1998 and 2011. The genres and materials that characterise and guide her work as a painter are enamel, watercolour and graphic art as well as panel painting in a broad sense as she uses both traditional and modern tools. She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions. Her work was recognised on four occasions at the National Watercolour Biennial in Eger. She received the Munkácsy Award (2001) and was a holder of a scholarship from the Hungarian Academy in Rome (2011) and one awarded by the City of Vienna (2013).
