Tamás KÁRPÁTI
(1949, Budapest) painter
He graduated in painting in 1974 from the Hungarian College of Fine Arts, where his teachers were Simon Sarkantyu and Jenő Barcsay. He has been an exhibiting artist since 1974. He held the Derkovits scholarship for the period of 1977-1979. He received the Munkácsy Award in 1983, the title of Meritorious Artist of Hungary in 2000, and the title of Outstanding Artist in 2013. In recent years, he has had solo exhi bitions in Budapest, Székesfehérvár, Győr, Tatabánya, and Pannonhalma. His works can be found in the collections of the Hungarian National Gallery, the Metropolitan Art Gallery, the Petőfi Literary Museum, the Christian Museum, the János Tornyai Museum and the Rippl-Rónai Museum.
