Tamás GALAMBOS
(1939, Budapest) painter
He graduated in 1963 from the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, where he was a student of Jenő Barcsay and Gyula Hincz. His style is regarded as post-naïve and pseudo-naïve. He has exhibited his work regularly both in Hungary and around the world since 1960. He is one of the most distinctive representatives of contemporary figurative painting. With his meticulously elaborated, brightly coloured formal language and his works that explore socio-political themes, he represents a unique world in the domestic art scene. His most important recognitions include the György Kohán Memorial Medal (1980), the Munkácsy Award (1988) and the Klebelsberg Prize (2008). His works can be found in the collections of the Hungarian National Gallery, the Móra Ferenc Museum, the Max Fournay Museum in Paris, the Kodály Institute in Kecskemét, the Janus Pannonius Museum, the Skonda Valley Contemporary Collection and the Nishida Museum in Toyama, Japan.
