Péter FÖLDI

(1949, Somoskőújfalu) painter

He graduated in mathematics and drawing from the Eger Teacher Training College in 1972. H is first mentor was Ödön Somoskői, whi le his teachers at the college were János Blaskó, János Seres and Ernő Nagy. After graduation, he returned to his native village as a drawing teacher, and he has lived and worked there ever since. From 1995 until his retirement in 2009, he was an associate professor and then a professor at the Eszterházy Károly Teacher Training College in Eger. He has been a member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts since 1994. His paintings are regularly displayed in national and international group exhibitions, as well as in national and international private collections. He had a solo exhibition at the Kunsthalle Budapest in 2018. His most important accolades include the Munkácsy Award (1987), the Meritorious Artist Award (2001), the Kossuth Prize (2007), the Prima Primissima Prize (2011) and the Artist of the Nation title (2020).
