Emese BÁCS
(1978, Brassó / Brașov, RO) fine artist
She has been living and working in Budapest since 1997. She graduated from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2004 as a painter. Her teachers were József Gaál and Dóra Maurer. She studied lithography and intaglio graphics at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan in 2001 and she has been studying at the UP Doctoral School of Art since 2024. In her works, she combines traditional painting tools with conceptual building using recycling material waste and juxtaposing found objects. She held an art scholarship awarded by the Hungarian Academy of Arts between 2021 and 2024. She won the Judit Szentimrei Prize in 2021, the Prize of the Municipality of Pesterzsébet at the Spring Show in 2022, and the special prize of the P etőfi Cultural Agency at the Minipictures competition in 2023. In recent years, she has held solo exhibitions in Kaposvár, Debrecen, Balatonboglár and Budapest. Her works can be found in several public collections in Hungary and in neighbouring countries.
