SERÉNYI H. Zsigmond
(1937, Szeged) painter and graphic artist
He studied painting in Budapest, where his masters were Jenő Barcsay, Lajos Luzsicza and Géza Fónyi. He has been working as a professional artist since 1976, mainly in graphic design projects. He made non-figurative and surrealist works during the 1960s and 1980s, while he painted organic panel paintings with a more constructive structure from the 1990s onwards. He regularly exhibits his works both in Hungary and abroad. He received the Miklós Káplár Pize (2005), the prize awarded by the Association of Hungarian Creative Artists (2015) and the Munkácsy Award (2018). He is a founding member of the Society of Hungarian Painters and the Matéria Art Society, as well as a member of the public body of the Hungarian Academy of Arts. His works can be found in several public collections in Hungary and abroad.
