Ábel SZABÓ
(1974, Kolozsvár / Cluj, RO) painter and graphic artist
He graduated in graphic art with a specialisation in printmaking in 1998 from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, where his masters were Gábor Pásztor and Alajos Eszik. He has regularly exhibited his works at solo and group exhibitions since 1997. He completed his DLA at the university in 2022. He lives and works in Budapest. The many accolades he received include the Béla Kondor Award (1998) and the Esterházy Art Award (2011). He won the first prize at the 61st Autumn Exhi bition of Vásárhely, the Tornyai Plaque and the Award of the Town of Makó in 2014 and the Munkácsy Award in 2016, while he received the special prize awarded by the Section of Fine Arts of the Hungarian Academy of Arts in 2022. He won the art scholarship of the Hungarian Academy of Arts in 2017. His works can be found in Hungarian and international art collections: the Museum of Óbuda, the Ignác Tragor Museum, the János Tornyai Museum, the KOGART Art Collection, the K&H Collection, the Collection of the Gyergyószárhegy (Lăzarea) Art Colony, the Luciano Benetton Collection, the Abu Dhabi Art Hub Collection, the Graphische Sammlung der ETH Zürich, Switzerland. He had a solo exhibition at the Kunsthalle Budapest in 2019.
