Béla SZEPESSY

(1960, Nyíregyháza) graphic artist

He graduated in 1993 from the Hungarian College of Fine Arts, where his master was Árpád Szabados. He chiefly makes linocuts and woodcuts. He is the founder and artistic director of the International Artists’ Colony of Woodcutting in Nyíregyháza. In recent years, he has had solo exhibitions in Szolnok, Nyíregyháza, Târgu Mureș, Budapest and Debrecen. He received the Master Teacher Gold Medal of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2015 and the Gyula Krúdy Prize in 2022. He was bestowed the Knight’s Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit and the Silver Javelin Award in 2022.
