György SZABÓ

(1947, Nagykőrös) sculptor

He completed his studies between 1968 and 1972 at the Hungarian College of Fine Arts, where his master was József Somogyi. He currently works at the Artists’ Colony in Szolnok. He mainly makes his sculptures using the lost-wax technique. In addition to his small sculptures, many of his open-air works can be found throughout the country. Besides numerous exhibition awards, he won the Grand Prix of the Salgótarján Spring Exhibition (2003), the Grand Prix of the Debrecen Summer Exhibition (2004) and the Grand Prix of the National Medal Biennial (2013, 2021). He received the Munkácsy Award (2011), the Béni Ferenczy Prize (2013) and a lifetime achievement award on the Day of Painting (2021).
