Gábor ULRICH

(1967, Budapest) fine artist, motion picture artist

He completed his higher education at the Kecskemét College, the Hungarian College of Applied Arts, Eötvös Loránd University and the Budapest Metropolitan University (METU). He is an opponent of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts and a lecturer at the MA programme at METU. His creative methods are characterised by the continuous exploration of the boundaries of graphic art, plastic arts and motion picture art. His experimental works using the formal language of the fine arts have been included in exhibitions and film festivals in more than fifty countries and have won various awards. His most important recognitions are the Béla Balázs Award (2011), the Prima Award (2024), the Hungarian Film Critics Award (2010, 2022), the Award of the Contemporary Christian Iconography Biennial (2018), the World Star Award (2000, 2007), the Philips Fine Art Award (1999), the Ars Sacra Award (2016), the ATAFF Award (2003, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2020) and the KAFF Award (2009, 2012, 2022). He has received the support awarded to artists by the Hungarian Academy of Arts several times. He is a member of the public body of the Hungarian Academy of Arts, a multiple award winner of its Section of Fine Arts and is currently its scholarship holder.
