Péter SOMODY

(1963, Veszprém) painter

He studied drawing between 1984 and 1988 at the University of Pécs, where his master was Ilona Keserü. He completed his MA in visual arts at the University of Pécs in 1995 under the tutelage of Gyula Konkoly, and earned his doctorate in 2002. He was a guest lecturer at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich and later in Karlsruhe. He has had regular solo exhibitions in Hungary and elsewhere in Europe since 1989. He held the Eötvös scholarship awarded by the State of Hungary (1997), the Tempus scholarship (2004) and the DAAD Berlin scholarship (2009). He received the Award for Excellence at the Spring Exhibition of Veszprém (2013), the Munkácsy Award (2015) and the Vilmos Zsolnay Prize (2023). His works can be found in many prominent Hungarian public collections.
