GERGELY Réka
(1988, Budapest) sculptor
She graduated in sculpture in 2013 from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, where her master was Zoltán Karmó. She won the Vigh Tamás Prize in 2013 awarded for best sculpture graduate of the year and the Kert Gallery Prize of the Szolnok Artists’ Colony in 2016. She obtained her DLA degree from the University of Pécs in 2021. In her doctoral thesis, she explored the issues of the division of cultural space and the unity of sculptural space. She won the Derkovits scholarship and was awarded the prize of the Hungarian Sculptors’ Society at the 5th Biennial of Sculpture in 2021, while she won a scholarship from the Hungarian Academy of Arts and the ‘Searching for T-Art’ prize of the T-Art Foundation in 2022. She is a member of the Szolnok Fine Arts Society and the Hungarian Sculptors’ Society. She has been a regular participant of the Szolnok Bronze Sculpture Symposium since 2014.
