Sándor BÁTAI
(1955, Veszprém) graphic artist, painter
He completed his secondary school studies in Székesfehérvár and then worked as a scenery painter for the Gergely Csiky Theatre in Kaposvár. His oeuvre has been fundamentally inspired by the art of Péter Donáth and Gyula Pauer. Besides graphic art works and paintings, he makes artist books and installations. He has also been dealing with dipped and cast paper projects since the 1990s. He is a representative of lyrical archaism. He held solo exhibitions in the Vaszary Gallery in Kaposvár in 2015 and in the Kunsthalle Budapest in 2019. He received a life achievement award announced by the Minister of Human Resources in 2018. His works can be found in both private and public collections, including the Rippl-Rónai Museum in Kaposvár, the Saint King Stephen Museum in Székesfehérvár, and the József Katona Museum in Kecskemét.
