Katalin VEREBICS
(1980, Enying) fine artist
She graduated in painting from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2005 and completed a fine artist teacher degr ee at the institution in the same year. Her masters were Alajos Eszik and Károly Klimó. She mainly uses classical painting techniques in her works. She has been participating in numerous art workshops and artists’ colonies, while being a regular exhibitor at Hungarian galleries and art institutions. She also paints abroad, in her second home: Cairo and the Siwa Oasis. She considers it important to build a bridge between the two cultures, making it visible through the means of art and personal experiences and by using a realistic and surrealist visual language. She received the Gundel Prize in 2007, the KOGART Prize in 2009, and the scholarship of the Hungarian Academy in Rome in 2010. She also held a scholarship in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, and received support awarded to artists by the Hungarian Academy of Arts for the period of 2019-2022. A monograph on her work was published in 2022.
