Péter MADARAS

(1981, Medgyes / Mediaș, RO) sculptor

He studied sculpture between 2000 and 2004 at the University of Fine Arts in Oradea under Rudolf Bone and has been doing his PhD at the West University of Timișoara since 2023 with Rudolf Kocsis as his supervisor. H e predominantly makes modular, symmetrical compositions, outstanding among which are his sculptures covered in cone scales. A work forming part of this series won the gold medal of the III. LihPao International Sculpture Biennial of 2016 in Taipei. He has been the vice-president of the Lakóca Association since 2013 and was the president of the Transylvanian Art Centre Association in 2021. He was the chief curator of the Transylvanian Contemporary Fine Arts Festival in 2021 and in 2023. He has been teaching sculpture at the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Pécs – Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania in Sepsiszentgyörgy since 2021.
