KIRÁLY György
(1982, Szolnok) painter and graphic artist
He graduated in painting in 2008 from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, where his masters were Dóra Maurer and Gábor Nagy. His degree project won the prize awarded by the Association of Hungarian Creative Artists. He received the Barcsay Prize in 2009 and worked with a DAAD scholarship in Nuremberg in 2013. His painting and graphic artwork is the Mystical Silence series, which explores the concept of silence using still-life motifs; this work has been receiving support from the National Cultural Fund of Hungary, among others, since 2016. He has won awards at several exhibitions in Hungary and most recently a scholarship from the Hungarian Academy in Rome. He lives and works at the Artists’ Colony in Szolnok. His works can be found in the collections of the Damjanich János Museum, the Miskolc Gallery, the János Tornyai Museum, the István Dobó Castle Museum, the Rómer Flóris Museum and the Hungarian Academy in Rome.
