Kossuth Award-winning graphic artist, Artist of the Nation
He studied at the Hungarian College of Fine Arts, where his masters were Sándor Ék, Géza Fónyi and János Kmetty. Over the course of his career, he illustrated over 500 books, and he also made animation films, etchings, linocuts and lithographs. He won the Gold Medal at the Florence Biennial of Graphic Arts in 1971 and won first prize at the Cairo International Film Festival for one of his animated films in 1978. He was awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary in 2013. His works can be found in the collections of the Hungarian National Gallery, the Petőfi Literary Museum, the Damjanich Museum, the Ottó Herman Museum and the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
