Éva VARGA
(1949, Hajdúböszörmény) sculptor
She graduated in sculpture in 1974 from the Hungarian College of Fine Arts, where her master was Iván Szabó. She regularly participates in solo and group exhibitions, mainly displaying her sculptures but also her drawings and graphic works. Her most important accolades include the Munkácsy Award (2002), the Mihály Gácsi Award (2018), the Grand Prize of the Miskolc Graphic Triennial (2017), the Grand Prize of the Miskolc Winter Exhibition (1997, 1999, 2007), the Award of the National Drawing Biennial (1996, 2000) and the Kondor Award (1994). She received a Derkovits scholarship from 1981 to 1983 and was a scholarship holder of the Hungarian Academy in Rome in 2009. In the following years, she worked in Egypt, Austria, and Poland as a holder of cultural scholarships. Her works can be found in the collections of the Hungarian National Gallery, the Budapest Bible Museum, the Ottó Herman Museum, the British Museum and the Centro Dantesco in Ravenna, as well as in private collections.
