István OROSZ

(1951, Kecskemét) graphic artist

He graduated in graphic design in 1975 from the Hungarian Academy of Applied Arts as a student of István Balogh. Besides his autonomous activities, he also does graphic design, mainly posters and illustrations. The Alliance Graphique Internationale and both Hungarian academies of arts elected him among their members. He founded the department of graphic design at the University of Sopron in 2005. He also makes animated films and is the author of volumes of poetry and prose. Recognitions: Gold Medal of the American Society of Illustrators (2001), Golden Drawing Pin Life Achievement Award (2003), and the Kossuth Prize (2011). His works can be found in the collections of the Deutsche Plakat Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the MoMA, among others.
