Péter STEFANOVITS STEFA
(1947, Budapest) fine artist
He graduated in reproductive graphic art in 1977 from the Hungarian College of Fine Arts, where his masters were Jenő Barcsay, Károly Raszler and Tibor Rozanits. He held the Derkovits scholarship for the period of 1979–1982 and the Hungart scholarship in 2001. He was an associate professor at the Department of Drawing at the University of West Hungary from 2004 to 2012. He was the chairman of the board of trustees of the Foundation for Hungarian Graphic Art between 1993 and 2013 and a member of the board of trustees of the New Art Foundation. He has been a full member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts since 2009 and the head of its Section of Fine Arts since 2014. His most important recognitions are the Munkácsy Award (1995), the Lajos Szalay Prize (2004), the Ildikó Simsay Prize (2006) and the title of Meritorious Artist of Hungary (2011). He had a solo exhibition at the Kunsthalle Budapest in 2017. His works can be found in several public collections in Hungary.
