Gabriella NAGY

(1968, Debrecen) painter

She graduated in painting in 1996 from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, where her masters were Gábor Nagy and Árpád Szabados. She continually renews her painting, which is marked by an individual character, while consistently building it up. Her work has been recognised by prominent solo exhibitions, purchases for public collections and various accolades. She worked in Lisbon on a scholarship in 2005. She is active in figurative painting with an interest in the illusory presentation of reality, blending surreal elements that are subtly absurd and questioning reality by using the method of traditional realism. She is looking for new forms and content within the genre of the landscape. She received the Strabag Art Award in 2001 and the Munkácsy Award in 2024. Her works can be found in the collections of the Déry Museum in Debrecen and the Hungarian National Gallery.
