István SINKÓ
(1951, Budapest) fine artist and art writer
He graduated as a teacher of drawing and geography from the Gyula Juhász Teacher Training College in Szeged in 1975, and as a teacher of fine arts in 201 5 from the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts. His master was his father, Károly Sinkó, but he was also greatly influenced by Árpád Szabados. He started working as a drawing teacher and then as a teacher of painting, and taught as a part-time lecturer at the Museum Education Department of the Eötvös Loránd University and at the Teacher Training Institute of the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest between 1999 and 2020. He has participated in national and international group exhibitions since 1978. He has been regularly publishing art writings since 1992. He was a teacher and then the head of the GYIK Workshop in the Hungarian National Museum from 1979 to 2011. He received the Small Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary (1997), and the Memorial Plaque of the Association of Hungarian Art Teachers (2009). He has been a corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts since 2023. His works can be found in the collections of the First Hungarian Visual Collection Foundation, the Herman Ottó Museum, the King St. Stephen Museum, the Hungarian National Museum, the Jewish Museum, the Gallery of Kecskemét, the Sports Museum, the E. Horváth Museum and the Museum of the City of Poznań.
